最近的話題 - 第四號外野手，經過 Bobby Kielty, Reggie Sanders 說法之後，今天有了一個成本最低，不需要花新人去交易的人選 Brady Clark。

Brady Clark 符合 Epstein 派的要求，終生成績 277/356/386，雖然沒有什麼長打能力，但選球能力優秀。2006 年 415 AB 有 43 次四壞，這個比例和今年的 Lugo, Pedroia 差不多，Brady 的巔峰期是 2005 年，2004 年底 Brewers 把 Scott Podsednik 交易出去，前一年只有 78 打數的 Clark 接替 Podsednik 的受到重用，這一年他有 0.306, 599 AB, 183 H 的成績，原本他被看好有 200 安打的機會，但是那一年 9 月他肋骨受傷，之後 06, 07 兩年成績就有點退步了。

他的防守紀錄 288 場 CF，251 場 RF，107 場 LF，以 CF/RF 為主，看起來是一個受到肯定的防守球員。

2006 年 Brewers 和他簽下兩年合約，一年後 Dodgers 把他交易過來，今年似乎不受 Grady Little 青睞，到六月被解約為止只有 58 打數，今年季末他的兩年合約也將約滿，這時候簽下他成本相當低，可以密切注意接下來幾天 WMP 的消息。

另外關於 Mark Teixeira 部分：由於現 3A, 2A, high-A 都沒有看好的一壘新秀，比 Youkilis 還小一歲的 Teixeira 很符合未來五年版圖的需求，聽說 Rangers 要求是一個 SP 和一個 ready 的一壘新人，前者應該沒問題，後者就無法拿出 Saltalamacchia, Kotchman, Loney 那種等級的人選。沒有成交也罷，現在把金手套的 Lowell 拿掉，換來一個多年前和紅襪有過節的 Teixeira？【註】，心裡實在有點怕怕的。

【註】：The Boston Red Sox, picking 12th, showed the most intense interest, and told Mark and his parents that they planned to grab him in the first round. The Teixeiras could not have been happier. Prior to Mark’s birth, they had lived in Maine and rooted for the BoSox. Scouting Director Wayne Britton let Mark and his family know that the team planned to offer a signing bonus of $1.5 million. The family, which was being advised by Scott Boras, informed Britton that they thought this number was a little light.

The Red Sox, in turn, circulated a message around the rest of the baseball world, suggesting that Mark was definitely college-bound. The implication was that no one should waste a pick on him. The strategy worked. On draft day, Mark followed the proceedings on the Internet, expecting to see his name pop up when the Red Sox went in the first round—or by some other team sometime shortly thereafter. When Boston’s spot came, they took University of South Carolina star Adam Everett instead.

Round after round, Mark’s name went uncalled. He was heartbroken. Finally, after more than 250 players were off the board, the Red Sox took him in the ninth round. Despite being submarined, the Teixeiras were willing to deal. Boston put the same 1.5 mil on the table. When Mark’s dad asked Britton if he could speak with Dan Duquette, he was told the GM would never call—it was a take-it-or-leave-it deal. At this moment, any thought of playing for the Red Sox ended. Mark then called Coach Hall and committed to the Yellow Jackets. Ten weeks later he packed his bags and headed south to begin a storied college career.
