Wild Thing 復活的案例？

最近被稱為現代 Steve Dalkowski 的 Jason Neighborgall 宣布退休，1983 年底出生的他還不滿 25 歲，Neighborgall 高中時期曾經連續投出兩場無安打比賽，我還記得 2002 年 Red Sox 以第 9 輪選了他而且對他評價很高。2005 年 DBack 以第三輪選了大學三年成績 BB/SO = 113/115 的 Neighborgall 還自認是 Steal！兩年多下來終於宣佈放棄他了，Neighborgall 在 Rookie~high A 的小聯盟投出 BB/SO =128/48 的成績。

Red Sox 目前手上還有兩個類似的專案在進行，一個是期望值較低的 Eric Beattie，另一個是目前為止還很用心的 Daniel Bard。

比 Neighborgall 小兩歲的 Daniel Bard 大學三年 BB/SO = 111/239 遠優於前者，小聯盟第一年 BB/SO 數據是 78/47。看起來沒有 Neighborgall 那麼悲觀！

最新的 BA Handbook 裡把 Daniel Bard 放在 Red Sox prospect 第 19 名，書上的說法是：

He throws 96-98 mph without breaking a sweat, breaking bats with his combination of velocity and heavy life. He never has had a reliable breaking ball. He is now working with a slurvy pitch that's more curve than slider, and while it's a plus offering at times, he doesn't locate it very well. his changeup is less dependable than his breaking ball.

看起來正在敎他第二球路，另外去年年底 Bard 在 Hawaii league 投了 17 局「僅」投出 15 次 BB，只被打 5 安打，交出 1.08 的防禦率，雖然比 Neighborgall, Beattie 兩人樂觀，但是樂觀還不夠，這類投手最後到底能不能站穩 MLB？
