Interview with Tim Kester

RSN: Tell us how you ended up in Taiwan, and your experiences pitching there.

TK: I went to Taiwan because a good friend of mine was over there and doing very well. He recommended me to the team he was on, and they took his advice and signed me. I thought he would be there with me, but at the last second he signed a contract to play in Mexico -- so I was on my own on the other side of the world.

Taiwan was where I really started to learn how to pitch, especially under pressure. Over there if you lose a game there are grumblings of you getting released, and after two in a row they start checking on flights. Not to mention the gambling problems with the Mafia (!), and not knowing if your teammates were trying to lose a game on purpose. It was very surreal at first, but I got used to it. It made me learn to focus on what I had to do, and not worry about anything else.

Kester

What an irony.
